The Firm How We Work

BigLaw-trained trial lawyers. Lean teams. A fraction of BigLaw rates.

Who we are for

Ness PLLC represents companies, founders and investors in disputes where the outcome matters to the business: a patent or trade secret case brought by a competitor, a contract or supply dispute worth more than the cost of litigating it, a fight among co-founders or shareholders for control, or a judgment that a debtor is working to avoid. Our clients are typically operating businesses and their principals who want senior trial lawyers on the matter without paying for a large firm’s overhead.

How matters are staffed

Every matter is led by Eli Ness, who tries the case rather than handing it off. Our lawyers trained at Quinn Emanuel, Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann and Perkins Coie, and the firm admits only lawyers who share its commitment to excellence, diligence and honesty. Teams are kept small so that the lawyer who knows the file is the lawyer in the room.

Fees

We bill by the hour at rates well below those of the national firms where our lawyers trained, and we discuss scope and budget with the client at the outset and at each phase. We take selected matters on alternative arrangements. We do not advertise fixed prices, because a serious dispute is rarely a fixed thing.

Technology

Ness PLLC builds and uses litigation tools and processes that make our lawyers more effective and more efficient at every step. We believe combining human judgment with artificial intelligence delivers the most value to our clients. From case initiation through trial, we practice at the cutting edge of law and technology.

Where

Offices in Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, New York, Dallas and Miami; admitted in the state and federal courts of California, Texas and Florida; pro hac vice admission elsewhere in the United States as the matter requires. Office addresses and phone numbers.

  • The contract, patent, or other document at the center of the dispute
  • The names of every party and counsel involved, so we can run a conflict check before we talk substance
  • Any deadline you are already facing
